This book is amazing. I'm a new manager with less experience than most supervisors in employee relations and corrective action. This book has been an invaluable resource because it clearly explains the philosophy behind the progressive corrective action process, relevant examples of how to write the documentation, and walks you through the process from start to finish. Almost every situation imaginable is included, including examples of how to proceed when the person who came before you did not do as neat of a job as you would have liked. Most of all, the conversational tone makes the book easy and enjoyable to read and the write-ups fair but firm.

I am so impressed with both the content and the layout of this book. Informative, practical, and up-to-date information that guides anyone who is in a position of administering any kind of discipline in place of employment. I think this is an absolute must for every manager and every HR staff.

This is a book I had used previously. It gives detail re handling employee issues and has great example within the book. It used to come with a cd with document templates. Now it gives you a website to access for templates, but the website does not exist so I was unable to get these. I planned on writing the manufacturer to see what could be done.

This book is a great guide for new supervisors who work with difficult employees. It takes you through how to document a variety of employee problems -- from disciplinary problems to unsatisfactory performance problems. Without accurate and detailed documentation, it's very difficult to suspend or terminate an employee.

This book has given us the processes for -hiring and beyond and less! .Paul Falcone has gifted us his professional insight for a (15 employee ) business and leaves us rarely craving for on an Attorney. Evidently, the 101 cases are drawn from real life situations . An ORDERLY approach to preventing and/or processing such challenges with a lawyers care and human compassion.`

This book is informative and helpful. But as a busy manager I found navigating the book difficult. This one I took the time to read from cover to cover. But later when I needed to look something up to use, I almost had to read it again.I wish there were more examples.

I have enjoyed good beer for many years and have always thought of brewing my own. I received a brew kit for Christmas and immediately went to my Kindle for more information. This book was the result.My knowledge of beer is novice at best, but my wine knowledge is fairly advanced. I enjoy good craft brewed beer, but don't know much about it like I do about wine. This book is beautifully written, and the author has a wine background so it fits perfectly to my situation.The information given in this book is vast, but well written, and dollar for dollar, I don't think you will find a better value in a beginner beer brewing guide than this one. The author also cites a huge amount of additional material, including a vast array of online resources that will further your education of this awesome hobby. I would have gladly paid $25 for this guide, but $2.50 - it's a steal!

I downloaded this book just out of curiosity ($3 for a kindle book - what can you loose?), and it opened for me the door both to home brewing and boutique beers in general. Excellently written, the material is clearly presented, and a highly engaging and enjoyable read. Most important though is that will ***inspire you*** to brew some great beer. I thought at first to give it only four stars since I would have liked a little more depth, but after buying John Palmer's How to Brew (an excellent book in it's own right), I realized that a book greatly technical detailing the chemistry and biology of brewing is daunting, and will discourage the first time brewer. You will find here all that you need to know, and I am sure that there is some good practical info for those who have brewed before too. My first batch using a combination of malt extract and steeped grains - was quite impressive, and has already inspired some relatives into brewing their own. Highly recommended.

With four batches under my belt this is the book I keep coming back to for help. There are many "must have" books on home brewing and I have them all but is my favorite. The information is up to date and the book is only a year or so old. There are Not a lot of pictures but it's not an issue as his explanation of procedures and steps are detailed and all inclusive. If you have any common sense or intelligence you will have no problems following along.

I am an amateur home brewer with a bunch of great brews under my belt, however, I haven't brewed in a while because I lost the passion. A friend got this book for my recent birthday and I am back! This book has instantly revived my passion for brewing, through engaging writing, detailed recipes, and interesting history! I dug out my carboy and dusted off my hydrometer and my first brew from this book is bubbling away!It really is great to find a guidebook that is well written, bravo.

Very informative. I've been home-brewing for a few years now and would consider myself an intermediate-level home-brewer but still learning. With this in mind I didn't use it as much for the step-by-step explanations on how to get started in brewing (although it did provide in-depth instructions), but rather used it for advice on moving from extract to all-grain brewing. It definitely helped me get off on the right track. It really digs into some of the science behind the brewing process, but in a simple way so people understand the why and how instead of just following steps. There was also a lot of information and history about beer that I found interesting and hadn't known. This is a great book if you're looking for an all-encompassing reference about beer including beer history, ingredients, making your first batch, troubleshooting techniques, and some great sounding recipes. This book did prime me and get me excited about the possibilities that exist in home brewing. I can see it being a resource that I return to for information as there is a wealth that covers styles of beer and the different strains of hops and yeast and their influence on the flavor of your brew. I am happy to have purchased this book and would recommend it to anyone interested in brewing beer at home.

The balance between practical steps, scientific detail, anecdotes and personal opinion is nearly perfect. I was initially apprehensive about reading it since I was planning to get straight into Palmer's book which is supposed to be the de facto classic but I'm glad I took a detour.A few details seem different from other sources I've come across, but I reckon the deeper one goes the more such views surface. Highly recommend.

This is an introduction to everything beer: the history of it, the classification of it, the brew process, the nature of grains, and above all the JOY of beer. This is one of the bed ways to get the big picture for not only brewing, but the craft beer scene in general.I learned a lot from this book. Like a diamond this book is flawless, stunning, brilliant and forever. A very small but illustrative part of the queen's jewelry collection concentrating in diamonds (only pearls and two emeralds examples are added to the mix) is given to the reader's consideration. The photos are perfect and in many examples details of backings give a view of the remarkable craftmanship of the jewels. The text not only clarifies the origins of some of the baubles but also the sentimental history is commented. If you have Leslie Fields early book The Queen's Jewels, the two books are a perfect match.

This coffee table sized book is a visual feast with life sized photos of each piece - tiaras, crowns, diadems, bracelets, necklaces, brooches, earrings and rings. Some are also shown through enlarged photos. Presented chronologically according to its original owner, the list begins with Queen Adelaide and continues through to HM Queen Elizabeth. The history of each piece along with photos of the queens who wore it gives a fascinating glimpse of how these priceless pieces have been changed to fit fashion.Though the book is a bit pricey, Amazon's price is considerably cheaper than ordering it from the Royal Collection (I checked.) The quality of the paper, the color printing, and the graphic layout are of the unsurpassed quality one would expect from an official royal release. For anyone interested in history, British royalty, or diamond jewelry, this book is a treasure.

I love this book!! I wish the Royal Collection would follow up with The Queen's Emeralds, The Queen's Rubies, and the Queen's Sapphires. Would be wonderful to also see some of the jewels that don't often get attention or are older historical pieces.

Big, luscious photos with close-ups of the jewels. I just wish it covered more of Queen Elizabeth's collection. I have "The Queen's Jewels" and "The Royal Jewels" which cover many of the other gems, but I was hoping for more, given this book is so much bigger. Still, I'm very happy with the quality of the photography, and the size of the photos.

As a jeweler, I have always thought that gems are immortal (they really are) and that they hold memories. Jewelry is one of those things that are durable enough to last through generations and even centuries. this is the ultimate history book. every time YOU go to the jewelry store, you are starting a new history. go back through old photos of your family and look at the jewelry. when those pieces are passed down and subsequent family members wear them, you see the family history. Jewelry is beautiful, wearable, history. this book shows wonderful photos and paintings of some of the best documentation of that history. within the reflections of gems and jewels are the memories of events when each was worn. the history of a family. yours or the Royal Family. seeing this displayed in this wonderful and impressive book is inspirational. I hope, when I am back in a Jewelry shop, will be on the counter to show that each purchase in the beginning of a family history.

I ordered this book on a lark, and worried it might be a rehash of other similar books. Was I wrong what a wonderful book. The pictures are large and detailed. I really love the stories of each of the women who wore these jewels. But some of my favorite pictures are the ones of the reverse of the jewelry. It is fasinating to see the way the gems sit in the setting. I really love this book and think you will too.

This is a good book. It's nicely done but the older Leslie Field book, called "The Queen's Jewels" , covers more ( emeralds, sapphires, rubies etc) and this seems to be a retread of the diamond section of that book. If you do not have that book, then you will enjoy this and I recommend it. It has lovely photographs! However, I would have saved my money if I had known that I already had the information in another book.

This book is amazing! Very well made, the info is extremely detailed and the pictures are brilliant! Well worth the price.The first one I got was damaged but they sent a new one immediately with no extra change to me and no charge for me to send the first one back.

It has done something that almost no other book I've found has done: it has made the teachings of the faith accessible to people who have a marginal interest and a low reading level.Mind you, the big green Catechism is great. (I still haven't made my way completely through it, but I've read most of it at one time or another.) However, it's scary-looking and huge and intimidating.The Youcat, though, with its yellow cover and Q&A format, is pretty low-key. It transmits important information easily, painlessly.I've been using it during our parish's Confirmation Boot Camp and in any class I teach since it's been released. You might say I'm a shameless fangirl. You'd be correct.It's as important (and as easy) for parents to read as it is for the youth for whom it's written. Over the years, I've noticed a mantra that seems to come around and around and around, coupled with the "you're a convert so of COURSE you're a better Catholic" myth that seems so prevalent. It's the "I can't POSSIBLY teach my child! I don't KNOW enough."I'm a catechist. I want to help. But what I do isn't primary catechesis (except with my own kids). What I do is similar to what all the farmers around me do: I plant. I might even cultivate. The growing, though, is the work of the Holy Spirit.Much of my job as a catechist (and as a writer of things catechetical in places like this) is to encourage and equip parents. YOU CAN DO IT. And here's a tool that will help.As I told my Confirmation students this week: it's okay to ask questions. It's okay to doubt. It's okay to stomp and scream and shake your fist (unless you're my two-year-old, and then we have a different set of standards). God can take it. It's NOT okay to walk away, to give up, to toss in your hat and chalk it up to "the Church needs to get with the times."Obedience, the bad word of our times. It's also something we don't appreciate enough. I can ask and ask and ask (and I do, just ask my priest). Seeking knowledge isn't bad. And here's part of the arsenal you need to be ready for that part of the job.

YouCat is a great catechetical tool; no doubt about it, and I'm excited to be using it for my Confirmation Students this year. As I read through the text, especially the commentary,I do notice some "weakness" of expression. For example, when refering to the possibility of salvation for those who, through no fault of their own, have never heard the Truth of the Gospel, yet live a good life sincerely seeking God according to their understanding, the YouCat says that these "also find salvation," as though it is certain. Yet, the cross references in the CCC (and to/from there in the Compendium, and in the U.S. Catholic Catechism for Adults) ALL say "these also 'may' find salvation." There are other such "gloss overs" which 'could' present a deficient understanding if the cross references in the CCC (Catechism of the Catholic Church) are not employed WITH the YouCat.Other than this one flaw, I do recommend YouCat as a great tool for Youth in learning more about the Catholic Faith.

Every Catholic of every age should have a copy of this book. If you want to know what the Church believes, why, and how you can explain it to others, then this book is perfect for you. It is not "simplistic", but it is easy reading. Unlike the full Catechism, it does not follow the strict Article/Paragraph annotation, but instead is more topical. I have found this book invaluable!

YOUCAT met my expectations and was an excellent religious publication for teenagers. It is a wonderful youth Catholic Catechism. It is meant for teenagers in high school who have had a modicum of Catholic Religious Education. It is not designed to be read as a normal book but used as you would read the bible. Pick a topic and read and discuss.

Bibles are sometimes hard to understand even for adults. I bought this book for me since I am teaching CCD and I LOVE IT. I can go straight to the question I have and it gives me detail of the answer our need.

I bought this book for my 15 year old daughter so she could learn something about the Catholic church. The Catechism of the Catholic Church is a MUST READ for adults who want to know what the Catholic church really teaches and believes, but it is a bit much for teenagers and young adults to grasp. The Youcat is an outstanding alternative to the CCC in that it is written specifically to appeal to that very group of young people. Arranged in a question and answer format it answers the same questions as the CCC but does it in a way that is easier to understand and grasp for young people. It includes quotes from saints, fathers of the church and other experts, definitions of words and terms and cross references among other things. If you are catholic or want to know more about the church in a easy to read and understand format and you are a teenager or young adult then this book is for you.

This Catechism is incredible. It is written in clear, concise language that is easy to understand. I love the quotes from Scripture, popes, saints, and philosophers in the margins. This Catechism has cleared things up about the Catholic faith for me.I think every Catholic teen should have one of these. Of all the apologetics books out there, this is the first one you should buy. I tried to read the Catechism of the Catholic Church once and couldn't because of the heady wording. This makes the Catholic faith easy to comprehend and teach to others.

This is an unbelievable gift for those yearning to know more about their Catholic faith. The book is structured like the Catechism of the Catholic Church and delivers the message clearly with pictures, examples, scripture and saintly discourse. The YouCat is a Catechism designed for the youth but appeals to everyone. I'm using it for a dad's ministry to touch the heart of the father so he can share these important precepts with his family. Most importantly, arming children with the truth before they face the spiritual desert of college life. Test drive one you will be amazed.

I bought this for a motorcycle trip to the Black Hills. No GPS on my bike so I got a map for every state I had to pass through. It did it's job and helped me get there and back.One additional comment: Call me old school but I love a good map. My car GPS makes me dumber every time I use it. I find myself blindly following it's directions only to find that I could have saved time and gas by planing the route myself. I also seem to remember the directions better when I plot it out on an "old-fashioned" map.

I needed a map that would serve as a back up if the GPS failed us. As our first road, we don't want to be left stranded and get lost, so we ordered this map. This map comes with great detail and useful tools to determine mileage and time. Highly recommend for any travelers needing a trustworthy map.Only drawback is that the map is huge, so a person might need to make a stop to look through it. The map covers a good portion of the front windshield.

Maps are going the way of the record player, news papers and dial telephones. Stopped in a super sized gas station/truck stop in North Florida ( the gate way for millions of tourists annually) and could not find a map anywhere in the place. The guy at the cash register said they stopped selling them years ago! Everyone uses GPS. The books stores have a few local fold out maps but mostly guide books. Obviously I'm not making the media transition very gracefully. Guess that makes me a technology fossil....I prefer the bigger view and information charts provided by a huge, printed, fold out map to the microscopic, telescoping view on a minuscule screen that more often than not is consistently wrong enough to earn my distrust. Besides, they don't disappear when the signal for my cell phone says "out of area". So, thank you Amazon and Rand McNally for keeping cartography,as I learned it, undated, accurate and available.

I like paper maps - I'm one of those people who goes off on random trips, but well researched. My preferred method of traveling an area is to read a book on it, mark up a map with a highlighter, and set off, sort sticking to the highlighted route, but not necessarily. This is a great map for that, although the split in the front and back sides of the map went right through a part of the state I would have preferred to have on the same side. Ah well, I suppose no one consulted me on the shape of the state, and they had to split the map somewhere.

Maybe I missed it on the description, but this map splits the state in two, with half on one side of the paper and the other half of the state on the flip side of the paper. Not helpful if you're looking for a map of the entire state.

Perhaps I didn't read the fine print of the description closely enough, but...realize that West Texas is on one side of the map and East Texas is on the other. As a result, if you bought two maps and overlapped them to have one for the wall the actual dimensions would be about twice the area. I did buy it to put on the wall but my plan is to use pushpins to track where I've traveled and concentrating on East Texas suits my purpose. I agree it probably would not tolerate a lot of folding and unfolding but it's really big so I'm not sure it would work well for trying to read in the car. And I suppose if you live on the edge of the map, you might be consulting one side, flipping it over as you travel, then back again, etc.

I am a roadmap collector and recently bought the RandMcNally maps for all 50 states, plus a US Interstate map. I like the large scale used and helps considering my vision is less than ideal. I also use these maps to supplement the official maps that I also have for the entire country

Half of California is on one side, the rest on the other, split right across the area we were traveling South of San Francisco. This is an oversized map, and Rand-McNally has a good reputation, so I was expecting the larger size indicated more detail. That is unfortunately not the case and most of the added space is what the computer guys term "white space"; i.e., nothing in it. Moreover, the larger size makes the map more awkward to use in a car, especially when you need to flip between the front and the back. We were tracking missions in the area and ended up relying on an older, smaller, and out of date map we had along from a previous trip. In comparison, our older map had all of California on one side and had more detail.
