About 90% of the book is pictures of scenes in movies or movie posters with small anecdotes underneath. The other 10% is composed of 1-2 pages of text regarding the subject matter of each chapter and some 2 page interviews with the likes of Ray Harryhausen, John Carpenter, Stan Winston, David Cronenberg, Guillermo Del Toro and others. The meat of the book is the interviews, which unfortunately there are not enough of. It's a nice book to serve as an introduction to the genre and for reference to movies that are not necessarily the standard fare, however Landis' "analysis" is very generic and lacks the thought provocation of his movies.

Review is for the kindle version, and is more of a warning than a review. The art and photography is possibly the biggest selling point for this book, and the product description states that its optimized for large tablets, but it didn't look like that to me. The pictures are tiny postage stamp things, and you can click on them for a slightly larger version, but the overall effect is pretty unimpressive. If I had it to do over again, I'd just pay another 10-20 dollars and get the print version. Landis's knowledge and enthusiasm for the genre do come through here, but this review is really about the print vs kindle version.

Excellent collection and written history of the monsters of the screen that many of us grew up with. Beautifully designed picture layouts with many full color photographs. Well written by John Landis, who from all information, seems to have grown up as many of us "boomers" did watching and worshipping Frankenstein, Dracula and The Wolfman, not to mention all the other classic creatures from late night fright TV, plus those in modern screen history. A great read and a great source of information behind the scenes of the classics of horror movies. Well worth the price of admission!

I bought this as a gift for my father-in-law. He is a huge horror movie fan, and it's something we've bonded on. This was an easy choice as a gift. I had the opportunity to look through it after I gave it to him. Side note: he absolutely LOVED it. The information inside is quite informative, and it was super cool to see the history behind a lot of well known monsters. If you or someone you know is interested in what happens behind the scenes than this is the book for you!

After seeing this book in stores a year ago, and not wanting to pay the high price, I ordered through amazon and couldn't be more pleased with the purchase.This is basically a large picture book of movie monsters dating from the 20's through modern times. The book is by John Landis and is his version of monster history. (both good and bad)There are some short interviews (insights) with some of his Hollywood friends, makeup artists, and directors that could have been a little longer.A great book for those of us who love horror movies and the creatures they spawn.

I have no complaints about this book! It's beyond the best horror book I've ever owned! John Landis did an AMAZING job making this beautiful creation and I hope he makes more! I love how it's so glossy and detailed. Every page is colorful and descriptive. What more do you need? It's all here! 320 pages of pure entertainment and it'll keep you busy for hours! Definitely worth every penny! And I'm the BIGGEST horror monster fan you'll ever know! This book impresses me!

I enjoyed this book. It represents a fast and pleasurable romp through the history of movie monsters from the silent era to today. John Landis, as almost everyone knows, directed some of the most well known and culturally influential movies, including An American Werewolf in London and The Blues Brothers. Landis's love for Dark Fantasy films really shines here and hooks the reader. The pictures are very attractive and the interviews with well known personalities involved with monster movies were educational. Landis is a very opinionated writer which I find to be refreshing. In his interviews, he is able to draw out blunt observations from those he talked with.The monster movies are grouped into broad categories throughout the book. They are: Vampires, Werewolves, Mad Scientists, Zombies, Ghosts, Mummies, Myths/Legends/Fairy Tales, Dragons/Dinosaurs, Monstrous Apes, Nature's Revenge, Atomic Mutations, The Devil's Work, Space Monsters, Monstrous Machines, Human Monsters, and The Monster Makers. At the beginning of each section, Landis would provide a two page overview about the subject or topic. His writings are clear, succinct, and knowledgeable, with the right touch of humor.This is a book that any fans of Dark Fantasy movies will want to obtain and read (and re-read) during any "dark and gloomy nights."

This is an amazing book to have if you're a fan of monsters and horror movies. It has a lot of interviews with famous directors and make up artists and tons of pictures broken down into different categories.

MATTHEW FUTTERMAN is Deputy Sports Editor of the New York Times. He has previously worked for The Wall Street Journal, The Philadelphia Inquirer and the Star-Ledger of New Jersey, where he was a part of the team that won the Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News in 2005. Like a lot of sportswriters, he is something of a frustrated athlete, who is still smarting from going 0-8 in singles his senior year at Union College. He blames a formerly weak psyche and sub-optimal serve. He grew up in Larchmont, New York, and graduated from Mamaroneck High School, Union College and Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. He also attended the creative writing program at the University of Arkansas. He lives in New York with his wife and children. In his spare time he runs marathons. He is not sure why.

Professors panned this book (even though none of them read but I have read it twice and must commend Sanders for his research and very thoughtful analysis. Whether you agree or not, it will make you think and it will educate you on Jewish thought at the time of Paul.

Sanders's work is a must read for anyone interested in Pauline studies. While I appreciate his work, I do not agree with his covenantal nomism. I think the forensic approach is much better.

As with all sequels, I was highly skeptical it would live up to the first movie. I assure you it does.

Probably the best book on Paul, a very complex character, otherwise just read his letters.

A must classic for those people who want to understand the background of the people who wrote about Jesus of the Bible. A lot of meat to chew but well worth the effort.

Excellent research, fine writing, and easy to follow the premise and minor premises! I highly recommend this work. It is a terrific research tool.

I appreciate Sanders branching out from traditional thought on Paul even if I do not agree with all of his arguments. I agree that Paul's belief was one of participationist eschatology (Paul also believed the end was near): the only way to become one of the People of God was through faith in Christ ("dying to Christ") and the old covenant was no longer sufficient. I agree that Paul had a connection to Judaism but, I do not agree with Sanders keeping with the ideal that Paul was a Pharisee just because Paul says so (he doesn't provide support for this). I found his `covenantal nomism' interesting but, I would like to do some more research on the subject.Sanders' does touch on Paul's break from the Jewish religion and his Hellenistic ideals which was helpful in the quest to understanding Paul.

This book is SO funny and so hopeful and so full of love! What a fun, wild and wonderful read. They are so honest and real. They share these incredible stories about their family and their relationships. I was really craving a book that would make me feel good and this book is that!! I love these girls and I can't believe what beautiful writers they are.

I have never written an amazon review before but felt compelled to share that this is such a joyful and enjoyable read! This is not a book about politics, it is a book about sisters and special bonds.

This is such a hopeful yet funny book. I think the stories are so heartfelt too. Jenna is such an authentic person....nothing phony about her. I love how they tell such great stories about their parents & grandparents....could not put this book down....not one boring page!

It was interesting geting to learn about a very privileged life that few can experience. Being in the spotlight is a very difficult life and they had extraordinary parents and grandparents that kept them grounded. The support and caring of their extended family is an unusual blessing. The content seemed controlled with no real depth, but who would want to air problems to the public.These two young women survived difficulties and took advantage of their opportunities, to become caring, contributing members of society.Any woman reader without a sister will envy what Jenna and Barbara have in their relationship. I applaud their candor in what they did write.This is a very “light read” when there is an occasion for that type book.

I bought this as a kindle book on a discount site. Did not vote for Bush. Oddly , started reading it as an escape from current political situation. Enjoyable read. First of all, fun to hear abt what it can be like to be a fraternal twin with all the comparisons that go on. But, also, the fun supportive parts. Secondly, interesting to read abt what is what like to be a college student with a secret service detail. And what 9/11 was like for dau of President. Lastly, liked hearing more abt Geo W. Esp touched by the descriptions of his paintings of wounded warriors and the angst he felt abt the war. I was never sure if he truly understood all the loss that would be involved when he made the decision to go to war. Appears he did later for sure. So, gave me a more complex picture of Bush 2.

This is a great book. I actually read this book in 2 days. The girls are so honest and funny! I don't know how you could not respect these girls and the Bush family. Such a heartwarming book...Thank you Jenna & Barbara~!

The Five Stars are because I read this on a cold Saturday afternoon when it was sleeting out and this book put some warmth back into my soul. It tells of the love and bond between the Bush twins and their family. It is also about growing up in the public eye, which they did with dignity. I read their mothers book, and these Bush women are pretty good writers for gals not in the business. Obviously the sisters led interesting lives of privilege, but they seem to have retained humor, kindness and morality. Very enjoyable.

I truly hope this post will help others like myself who would like to follow The Clean Program in it's entirety, but who does not have $450.00 for the "Rebuild Kit." I looked everywhere, but I wasn't really able to find a clear breakdown of what each of these supplements actually are and what a close match might be should I decide to purchase them individually. So, now that I have taken the time to do the research myself, and have broken down The Clean Program's Rebuild Kit, I would like to offer my determination to anyone else out there looking for this information. If you are interested in getting the supplements but don't have the finances for the kit like myself, you may want to consider the below listed supplements instead. In all, I would say I spent appx. $100-$150.00 which is a big jump from the $450.00 kit! Keep in mind, none of the supplements are required and many people have been very successful without purchasing any of the supplements at all!!! There are plenty of other reviews to support this statement. So, this may be something to consider in preparation as well.*** If you go to THE CLEAN PROGRAM website, you can actually pull up the "Rebuild Kit" ingredients for yourself. This will allow you to confirm the main ingredients in the products before you purchase anything if you don't want to just take my word for it. Again, $450.00 was not an option to me but I want to follow the program as closely as possible. They also have a shopping list that you can get an idea of the groceries you will want to get in preparation of The Elimination Diet.I REALLY HOPE THIS INFO PROVES USEFUL TO ATLEAST ONE PERSON! I PERSONALLY WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY APPRECIATIVE TO HAVE HAD THIS INFO AT HAND :-)

The Clean Program itself is really great, but this book was hard to get through. Two thirds of it is telling me how toxic and horrible the environment is and why I need to do a cleanse, but I imagine that most people who buy the book are already invested and didn't need convincing. I kept waiting to find out what the cleanse actual entails! The cleanse process is only a short piece of the book and is not organized in an easy-to-follow way (e.g., Step 1: pre-cleanse/elimination, Step 2: cleanse). Even the recipes are organized in a confusing manner, with there being two different groupings of categories of food (i.e., Shakes section, then soups, then chicken, ....then back to another shakes section, another chicken section). I found myself going to the online resources on the clean website (the manual and the support section's manual) rather than referring back to the book. All the important pieces about how to follow the program, including recipes, are online. This book wasn't worth buying, in my opinion, although the cleanse itself was really great to follow.

Changed my whole outlook on food. I lost 10 lb during the detox, gained tons of energy, and figured out why I’ve had chronic stomach pain my whole life: sugar. This book is a life changer. I highly recommend it. After my detox, I went back to eating like I used to and gained back most of the weight and began to feel sluggish. My stomach pains returned as well. Some of my food cravings were gone completely-like coffee. I am now going to cut out many of the junk food because that diet truly made me feel so good. I used to eat tons of fast food and this forced me to start cooking and I actually enjoy eating my own food now.

I think this book is poorly put together. It has a very limited list of foods that are allowed/disallowed. Many foods are not on either list. Moreover many of the recipes in the book use peppers, soy, tomatoes, etc. that are on the list of foods not allowed. That kind of inconsistency makes it very hard to use and and makes me suspect the integrity of the program.

This is the book that changed my life. As a recovered anorexic, I've long struggled to learn how to eat to nourish my body for the long-term. Dr. Junger's Clean Program provided the education I had been "craving" and helped me learn to think of food in a new way. Through the 21-day elimination diet, I discovered a severe reaction to gluten and was subsequently diagnosed with Celiac Disease, a fact that causes me to wonder if the discomfort I felt after eating might have contributed to my early onset anorexia. (I was an underweight 7 year old when I began to deprive myself of food.) Today, I am at a healthy weight. I look forward to my Clean smoothies and to making my Clean meals from scratch. I look HEALTHY, truly HEALTHY for the first time in my life. At age 44, my skin glows and my eyes sparkle. And I feel amazing. I've introduced this book to friends, clients and relatives and have seen them enjoy beautiful results, too. For me, though, Clean isn't just a book, it's a lifestyle. And I'm so glad I've been able to embrace that.

I'm not finished reading it yet, but it's excellent an I'm already eating most of the stuff so I can't wait to actually do it for three weeks an see results. I won't actually be starting it until 2nd week of June but u sure will update you. I actually sent the book to someone that won't be able to do it until she's released from prison but I'm in Hope's she reads it an studies it an shares it. We have a serious problem in this world an it's eating processed food. I stopped a few yrs back but during hurricane Maria I had no choice. I ate what I could get. I felt so sick I had to leave this island for a couple months to cleanse. Thank you for this marvelous book .

About the Author

Chris Le Baudour has been working in the EMS field since 1978. In 1984, Chris began his teaching career in the Department of Public Safety–EMS Division at Santa Rosa Junior College in Santa Rosa, California. Chris holds a master’s degree in education with an emphasis in online teaching and learning as well as numerous EMS and instructional certifications. Chris has spent the past 30 years mastering the art of experiential learning in EMS and is well known for his innovative classroom techniques and his passion for both teaching and learning in both traditional and online classrooms. Chris is very involved in EMS education at the national level and served six years as a board member of the National Association of EMS Educators and advises many organizations throughout the country. Chris is a frequent presenter at both state and national conferences and a prolific EMS writer. Along with numerous articles, he is the author of Emergency Care for First Responders and coauthor of EMT Complete: A Basic Worktext, and an Emergency Medical Responder Workbook and Active Learning Manual for the EMT-Basic. Chris and his wife, Audrey, have two children and reside in northern California. David Bergeron was very active in the development of instructional and training programs for the emergency medical services (EMS) for more than 35 years. His early work included a front-row seat to the development of modern patient assessment and care inspired by the studies of Dr. R. Adams Cowley, Maryland Shock Trauma Center, Maryland Institute of EMS Systems, and Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute (MFRI). David’s work in instructional development for emergency medicine has included EMT-Basic, Emergency Medical Responder (First Responder), EMT-Intermediate, and EMT-Paramedic student and instructor programs. He is credited with writing the first comprehensive textbook for the first responder, for establishing the first behavioral objectives for EMTs, and for being the first to develop a full-course glossary for EMT instruction. As well as having served as an instructional technologist on leading textbooks in emergency medicine, David was on the teaching faculty of the University of Maryland, Longwood University, and numerous community colleges and schools of nursing. His publications include textbooks that have been translated into Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Lithuanian, and Japanese. David passed away on April 10, 2012, after a long illness.

Great. Bought this one after I was completely ripped off by that piece of garbage the AAOS calls their EMR textbook. I'm already an EMR and am just using this as a reference and also to train lifeguards. This one is fantastic. The organization is exceptional. The design and illustrations are extremely modern. The information is completely up to date and new advances in pre-hospital medicine have been added. The book is extremely thorough. It definitely seems like the authors cared very much about the quality when they wrote it. There are some gaps in information in the patient assesment chapter and that's why I knocked off two stars. Maybe it didn't get edited accidentally because they forgot to talk about the airway step in the primary assessment and barely talked about the primary for responsive patients. This really bothers me as that is some pretty important information. Other then that, the book is fantastic; This is the best and most comprehensive EMR text out there.

Great starter book for EMS. Just watch for errors in end of chapter review questions and answers.

Received this book for my academy class that I am in and needed it for. The book that I got is the same book that everyone else had in my class, except it does not come with any answer guides in the back of the book which the rest of my classes did. Could not study properly because I did not have answer keys for the tests. Not a great buy.
